Jeremiah 18: 1-6; Psalm 146; Matthew 13: 47-52
Jeremiah offers us a prophetic sign.He is told to watch the potter and to see that when a pot is spoiled, the potter can still re-fashion it. Jeremiah is told that we are like clay in the potter’s hand. The psalm rejoices in this hope. Now Jesus compares the kin-dom to a net full of fish of every kind. What is not edible is thrown out. So it will be at the end of the age.
So pray to be a good fish! We have hope and trust that if God finds that we are an unsuitable pot, God will re-fashion us – provided we allow ourselves to be clay in God’s hands. Pray for the grace to be supple, flexible, soft of heart that God may make you even more beautiful!
We pray for the hard-hearted among us, that you may renew the face of the earth and its peoples. Open us day by day for new conversions of heart so we may give you joy.
