Holy Union has been international since its beginnings. The first Holy Union community of four pious women who were teaching the children of Douai in 1826 were French and Belgian. The congregation is now present in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, Argentina, the US, Cameroon, Tanzania and Benin in Africa, Italy, and Haiti - 11 countries on 4 continents. Our Constitutions, the rule of life which we follow, says: “The gift of internationality in our congregation brings with it a broadening of vision and a deeper sense of community with the world.”
New Leadership Team for the Region of Cameroon
The sisters of the United States join the entire congregation in congratulating the newly-elected leadership team for the region of Cameroon. Elected as Regional Superior was Sister Caroline Njah Bongvati, presently the Region's novice mistress.Sisters Bridget Nko and Micheline Takpu Suireng will form the Regional Council. Bridget is currently Director of the St. John's Resource Center, a retreat and pastoral center, in Ndop.Micheline, who is based in the capiital city, Yaoundé, is the Regional Treasurer and also serves as its Vocation Director. Caroline, Bridget, and Micheline will assume their new responsibilities August 1st.
