Acts 5: 27-33; Psalm 34; John 3: 31-36
Peter insists, “We must obey God rather than any human authority.” Then Peter calls Jesus our Leader (Canadian translation) but in Greek, our pioneer, one who has gone before us, experiencing everything a human being can/does. The psalmist reminds us that God is close to the brokenhearted and those who are crushed in spirit God saves. Then John teaches that God “gives the Spirit without measure.”
Pray to trust the good news that God gives without measure, whether we are brokenhearted, crushed or on an adventure with our Leader and pioneer. Think of something you experienced that roused a feeling in you: happy, sad, angry, hopeful, anxious. Ask our pioneer directly: “When did you feel like this?” Listen. Ask your Leader where you can work with him today, for God’s glory and God’s joy.
All today for the greater glory of God, all for the greater joy of God! Thank you for such a Leader who washes feet. Show us where we can serve today, even a small step.
