Our 2024 Jubilarian Celebration

Sept. 23, 2024

We are into the season of Jubilee here in our Holy Union US Area. What a time of joy and heartfelt gratitude!  This year we have three Jubilarians:  Sisters Adrienne DeChamplain, Mary Catherine (Kay) Duerr, and Gertrude (Gert) Pare.  On Saturday, September 21st, Sisters and Associates gathered at St. Patrick Church in Somerset, MA, for a Jubilee Mass where two of our three Jubilarians renewed their vows as Holy Union Sisters.  Our two Jubilarians in attendance this year were Sisters Mary Catherine (Kay) Duerr and Gertrude (Gert) Pare, both celebrated their 70th year as Holy Union Sisters.  Fr. David Costa and Fr. Freddie Babiczuk  celebrated a beautiful Mass and Sr. Kathleen Corrigan delivered a moving homily.  Mass was followed by a lovely luncheon in the parish hall next door.  It is always such a joy to gather and get caught up with Sisters and Associates we have not seen in a while.  It was a wonderful day filled with warm memories and good wishes.

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, September 17th, Sisters Alice Arsenault, Marilyn Bearne, Mary Catherine Burns, Paula Coelho, Tess Horvath and Mary Lou Sullivan gathered at Marian Manor with our third Jubilarian, Sister Adrienne DeChamplain who this year celebrated her 85th Jubilee!  Sister Adrienne lives locally, but at 102 years old, she was unable to join us this year at St. Patrick Church, so we brought a bit of the celebration to her.  After Mass we gathered with Sr. Adrienne in a special section of the foyer at Marion Manor for the renewal of vows followed by refreshments. She became quite animated and thoroughly enjoyed the celebration. We assured her that all sent their love to her and that she would be remembered and celebrated, as well, at the Jubilee celebration on Saturday.  Attached are several  pictures of the event at Marian Manor as well as the luncheon at St. Patrick’s parish hall.
