A Wonderful Visit from Sr. Cecilia of Cameroon

We are delighted to have had the chance during the week of March 6th to visit with one of our Cameroonian Sisters, Sr. Cecilia Egho, who is currently enrolled as a student at Divine Word College in Epworth, Iowa, earning her undergraduate degree in Theology.  During a break in her classes she was able to visit us here in New England to meet as many of her US Sisters as time would allow, and see a bit more of our country and our Province.

While here, Sr. Cecilia was able to visit our Province offices as well as several local communities of Sisters, including groups at Prosper at Fall River, Anchor Bay in Lincoln, RI, Mary Immaculate in Lawrence, as well as some smaller communities in Pawtucket, Taunton, and Fall River. Having already spent several winter months in Iowa, she was already accustomed to our cold climate, and so adjusted more easily to our New England weather.

We’ve had several wonderful discussions comparing cultures, foods, and even the celebration of Mass in each of our countries.  Most of all, it was so good to hear about the ongoing work being done in Cameroon.  It was an especially great joy to have Sr. Cecilia visiting in the northern part of our Province, as several of our Sisters there (Sisters Terry, Roberta, Marilyn, and Jane) spent many decades in Cameroon during the early years of Holy Union there. She is a truly remarkable young woman and one we are blessed to have among us. Please pray for her as she continues her studies.

Please enjoy the pictures below of Sr. Cecilia’s visit. We can’t wait to see her when she returns this summer during her next break!
